Agropolychim make history in Varna

The team of Agropolychim won the inaugural edition of the Football Corporate League in the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Varna!

The players of the leading manufacturer of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers won 13 and drew 1 of their 16 league games to collect 40 points and finish at the top of the standings. The champions also had the best attack, which scored 136 goals, and the best defense, which conceded 48 goals. Their playmaker Nikolay Penev impressed throughout the season and recorded the most assists in the league - 25 in 11 games! He also scored 28 goals.

Interestingly, the second best assist getter in the league is also an Agropolychim player. Penev's midfield partner Damyan Sariyski created 20 goals for his teammates.

The silver medals went to the team of ODMVR-Varna, who amassed 37 points with 12 wins and 1 draw. The players of the Ministry of Interior managed to beat the champions Agropolychim by 8-7 in an entertaining game of the last round of fixtures.

SOD-DSC finished third with 31 points and grabbed the bronze medals. Forward Delyan Kolchev contributed significantly to the success of his team by scoring 28 goals and providing 10 assists. His teammate Galin Dimitrov was also shining with 16 goals and 12 assists.

Speaking about individual achievements, METRO's Veselin Georgiev became the top goalscorer of the league with 46 goals in 13 games! He was followed by Ivaylo Ivanov (ViK - Varna), who found the net 37 times in 14 games.

Interestingly, the team of Bash Maistora conceded the most goals in the league but their goalkeeper Petar Rusev made the most saves - 142 in 15 games. Hristiyan Haralambiev came second in this ranking with 105 saves in 13 matches for SOD-DSC.

The first season of Football Corporate League - Varna featured 9 teams which played each other twice. The season started on 27th June with PREMIER Real Estate defeating Bash Maistora by 6-3 in the first game of the campaign. The last match of the season was the already mentioned game between the runners-up ODMVR-Varna and the champions Agropolychim. It took place on 10th November.
