Beskidzka Liga Biznesu complete historic first season

14 July 2020 /

The teams of Rekord SI and Safety First dominated the inaugural edition of Beskidzka Liga Biznesu and triumphed with the silverware at the end!

The new league for 5-a-side corporate teams in the Polish town of Bielsko-Biała kicked off on 2nd October 2019 and featured 8 teams from the Podbeskidzie region. They played each other twice in 14 rounds of fixtures on the artificial grass pitch of Centrum Sportu REKORD. The last league games were played on 6th July and the season was officially closed with a League Cup tournament for 16 teams on 8th-10th July.

The players of the software company Rekord SI met with Raben in the historic opening match of the league and recorded a prestigious 4-2 win. Interestingly, all the four goals for the winners were scored by former Poland futsal international Piotr Szymura.

Both teams also met in the first game after the Coronavirus break on 1st June and Rekord SI emerged victorious again with a 8-7 win. This was one of the most entertaining matches of the season (highlights in the below video) and saw both Szymura and Raben's Janik scoring 4 goals.

Rekord SI continued their impressive march in the league to finish at the top of the standings with 35 points and 1 defeat only. On their way to the title they scored 77 goals and conceded 43.

In the meantime, Raben represented Beskidzka Liga Biznesu at EFBLU European Tour 4 in the Italian city of Milan on 7th-8th December 2019 and reached the quarterfinals there. The players of the logistics company moved on to finish 4th in the domestic league with 25 points.

Safety First were the only team which managed to beat the champions and did so in great style with a huge 8-1 win in the 12th round of fixtures. This game, however, was played after Rekord SI had already clinched the title. Nevertheless, these 3 points helped Safety First significantly in their successful battle for the silver medals. The players of the safety equipment supplier scored the most goals in the league (102), had the best goal difference (+47) and finished second with 28 points.

The bronze medals were won by the team of Aluprof who collected 27 points with 9 wins.

The teams of Murapol, Electropoli, Klingspor and Selleo finished 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th, respectively.

The football season was officially closed with a 3-day League Cup tournament for 16 teams on 8th -10th July. Beskidzka Liga Biznesu champions Rekord SI and runners-up Safety First cruised to the final and this time it was Safety First who lifted the trophy after a dramatic 3-2 win.

Rekord SI took the lead twice thanks to goals from Szymon Greń and Andrzej Maślorz but Grzegorz Sztorc from the penalty spot and Michał Adamus managed to level the score each time before Jakub Raszka scored the winner in the last seconds of the game.

The second edition of Beskidzka Liga Biznesu will kick off in August and we wish a lot of fun on the football pitch to all particpants!
