The teams of Empark and PFarma, the reigning champions of the Portuguese Liga Empresarial and Spanish FutbolEmpresas respectively, have met in the inaugural edition of the EFBLU Iberian Supercup in Lisbon on Saturday, 30th March 2019.
Together, Liga Empresarial and FutbolEmpresas have more than 250 teams, so the match between the champions of both leagues had to feature two teams capable of showing football of the highest quality. And both Empark and PFarma met the expectations by delivering a thrilling encounter with 5 goals.
The visitors made a strong start and managed to open the scoring on 8 minutes thanks to a goal from the very active Koldo Gutiérrez. Empark, however, responded with two goals from Ronaldo Tavares and Laudio Silva in the 23rd and 37th minute before Víctor Lerma leveled the score at 2-2 on 42 minutes. Three minutes later, Ronaldo Afonso hit the decisive goal for Empark and became the hero for his team. His teammate, the impressive goalkeeper Sousa Herlander, also had a significant contribution to the success of the Portuguese hosts.
The most important thing is that all the players enjoyed the game which was played in an atmosphere of fair play and friendship!
“I am very happy that two of our member leagues which are based in neighbouring countries have established collaboration and organized a game between their champions. The event was great and I hope this initiative will become a wonderful tradition,” EFBLU President Dr Pawel Dimow said.
