The faith of the title in Ekstraklasa was decided in the last round of fixtures where the two contenders, levelled on points, Saint-Gobain and Freshmed faced each other on the pitch. Having lost the first game between both sides and having worse goal difference, the 2-time defending champions had to win the crucial encounter and they managed to do so.
