Extraklasa newcomers triumph in Kraków

After finishing at the top of the I Liga B standings in the previous spring-summer 2019 season of Biznes Liga in the Polish city of Kraków, the team of 442 Sport Pub did not slow down and won the title in the top flight, too!

The recently comleted autumn-winter 19/20 lasted 219 days and featured the record number of 130 teams which were divided into 13 separate leagues of 10 teams on 4 different levels. Extraklasa was at the top of the football pyramid followed by I Liga A and I Liga B on the second level. II Liga A, II Liga B, II Liga C and II Liga D represented the third level while III Liga A, III Liga B, III Liga C, III Liga D, III Liga E, III Liga F formed the fourth level. Every league had 18 rounds of fixtures with all teams facing each other twice.

In their memorable campaign, 442 Sport Pub won 14 games and lost only 3 to finish with 43 points and the best goal difference of 77-40 (+37). Another Extraklasa newcomers, Limbud, who won I Liga A last year, came second with 35 points to grab the silver medals. The first game between the two sensations of the season was won 5-4 by 442 Sport Pub while Limbud recorded a convincing 6-0 victory in the rematch. The bronze medals were won by CCZ Mateo, who won 10 games and finished with 31 points. Interestingly, CCZ Mateo were also a newly promoted team in the Extraklasa. Last year, they finished third in I Liga A.

We should also highlight the phenomenal form of Odstraszanie.pl's leader Arkadiusz Chlebowski, who became the biggest star of the autumn-winter 19/20 season in the top flight. He scored the most goals (44), made the most assists (17) and was voted "MVP of the match" the most times (8).

The team of Sław-Mont collected 38 points with 12 wins and 2 draws to win I Liga A. MPEC and iCar came second and third with 35 and 34 points, respectively.

Below, we present the highlights of one of the most entertaining games in the Biznes Liga this season. Sław-Mont defeated JR Holding by 10-6 after trailing 2-4, thanks to the devastating form of their star Krzysztof Maj, who hit 6 goals for the winners. Maj finished the season with 41 goals, 14 assists and 8 "MVP of the match" awards and all these numbers were the best in I Liga A.





The rivalry in I Liga B was very exciting as the top 5 teams were separated by 5 points only. Treko-Laser finished levelled on 30 points with Green Cell at the top of the standings but won the title thanks to the two wins (5-3 and 4-1) in the direct matches between them. The 28 points won by Accenture were enough for the bronze medals.

Green Cell's Adam Jawor was the top goalscorer in I Liga B with 24 goals while his teammate Arkadiusz Krzyszkowski made the most assists (12). Furthermore, Jawor, together with Treko-Laser's Mariusz Małysa, received the most "MVP of the match" awards (6).

The third level of the Biznes Liga's football pyramid was dominated by the teams of Ortotop Centrum, Capgemini, Jarwex and Capita, who won II Liga A, II Liga B, II Liga C and II Liga D, respectively. Interestingly, the 49 points (16 wins and 1 draw), won by Capgemini in II Liga B, were the most by any of the 130 teams in the autumn-winter 19/20 season of Biznes Liga.

Majorel, ORLEN OIL, Light, FedEx, Meblomix & Mazur Truck Serwis and Estate Dealer became the best teams in the fourth level by winning their respective leagues III Liga A, III Liga B, III Liga C, III Liga D, III Liga E nad III Liga F.

The III Liga A side Columbus Energy was the highest scoring team in the whole Biznes Liga with the highly impressive 141 goals. They also recorded the best goal difference of +110. The teams which conceded the fewest goals (25) in the the autumn-winter 19/20 season were Business Elite (II Liga C) and Majorel (III Liga D).

Colorex's Mariusz Kwater was the most prolific goalscorer in Biznes Liga with 60 goals in 17 games. He also added 12 assists to lead his team to the second place finish in III Liga F and promotion to the higher level of the league pyramid. Kwater was actively supported by his teammate Dominik Karaś, who recorded the highest number of assists (30) of all players.

Elsewhere, Capgemini's Damian Świątek became the player with the most "MVP of the match" awards. He scored 48 goals, made 18 assists and was voted the best player in 12 of the 18 matches he played.

Biznes Liga traditionally close every league season with a spectacular Gala but this will not be possible now due to the situation with the Coronavirus. Instead of the Gala, all 39 teams, which finished in the Top 3 of all 13 leagues, will meet on the football pitch to play in a special tournament called "Biznes Liga Mistrzów" (Business Champions League). It will take place in Sport Factory Park in Kraków on Sunday, 21st June.
