Polish leagues resume action after the COVID-19 break

26 May 2020 /

We have received great news from Poland where our members Sportowa Liga Firm – Silesia and Biznes Liga returned to league action on Monday! After a two-and-a-half-month break, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, corporate football is back in the country on the Vistula river!

The teams of eq system and BMZ Poland were the first who entered the pitch at the famous Silesian Stadium in Chorzów to resume the season of Sportowa Liga Firm – Silesia. The game between the 3 Liga teams kicked off at 18:30 and eq system's Jacek Borowiecki scored the first goal after the long break in the 5th minute. His team, however, was not able to held the lead and lost the match by 2-4. You can watch the highlights below:

Six more games in all four divisions of Sportowa Liga Firm – Silesia followed in the evening. Top fight Freshmed and Saint Gobain have both won their games against OEX MerService and Capgemini by 15-1 and 9-3 respectively to remain levelled on 24 points at the top of the Ekstraklasa standings. Both teams will face each other in a crucial game for the title on 1st June. Freshmed won the first match against the 2-time reigning champions Saint Gobain by 7-6 in the second round of fixtures on 27th January.

Kraków's Biznes Liga, which hosted EFBLU European Cup 1 in November 2017, returned with 10 games of I Liga A, II Liga A and III Liga A.

In a key I Liga A match, leaders Sław-Mont suffered a 2-3 defeat at the hands of iCar and were caught at the top of the standings by MPEC, who defeated Dedax by 5-3. Now both teams lead the way with 32 points and two rounds of fixtures remaining. Highlights from the game between iCar and Sław-Mont can be seen in the video below:

In II Liga A, SSC clinched promotion to the second division I Liga with a comfortable 6-2 win over the last-placed Teamtechnik. Teamtechnik on the other side will have to win their remaining two encounters and count on favourable results in the other games to avoid relegation as they are currently 5 points away from the safety zone.

Interestingly, III Liga A leaders Majorel, who have won 14 of their 15 previous games, were defeated 2-4 by the third-placed Gravier, who do not give up on their hopes to win promotion at the end of the season. Elsewhere, Columbus recorded a highly inpressive 16-3 win over REN-BET to level on 42 points with Majorel at the top of the table.

Next week, another Polish league - Beskidzka Liga Biznesu - will resume action with 4 games on Monday, 1st June. We are waiting for more good news from other European countries.
