AD Auto Total climb to the top of Liga Companiilor

After finishing second in 2015/16 and third in 2016/17, AD Auto Total have finally managed to win Liga Companiilor in Bucharest (Romania) in the 2017/18 season.
The recently completed league season was the 9th edition of Liga Companiilor and featured 38 teams - 16 in 1.League and 22 in 2.League. Each team played 30 games in 1.League and the new champions AD Auto Total managed to record most wins (26), fewest defeats (2) and best goal difference (+94) to lift the title in the top flight with 80 points.
The team of Gemini Solutions finished second just like in 2016/17 but this time they trailed the new winners by 6 points. Interestingly, Gemini Solutions managed to defeat AD Auto Total by 3:2 in the last game of the season.
The top three was completed by the team of Enterprise Rent-A-Car which collected 67 points - 13 more than they had in 2016/17 when they finished fifth.
Last year champions TTA regressed and landed on the fourth place. They scored the most goals in 1.League (160) again but also allowed a great number in their net (138). Only three other teams conceded more goals in the top flight.
The last two teams Sport Suport and BRD were directly relegated from 1.League and will be replaced by the promoted 2.League winners Instituţiile Lumina and runners-up Marco Vet. Furthermore, the 2.League teams Hidroconstrucția, Televol Systems and BCR managed to win promotion to the top flight after beating the 1.League teams Tuborg, Av-ADSA and RCS & RDS respectively in the promotion/relegation play-offs. Lindab was the only 1.League team which managed to keep its top flight status in the play-offs after beating DTM-MApN.
The 2017/18 season of Liga Companiilor was officially closed with a special Gala on Saturday, 7th July. The video highlights from the event are presented in the below video:
